Trauma Therapy That Works For You
Our practice is rooted in helping individuals overcome the traumas of their past.
From “Big T” traumas stemming from life-altering moments to “Little T” traumas that trigger overwhelming responses to everyday life, our therapists can help.
Types of Trauma
As we often say to our patients, trauma is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone handles and processes events differently, and no two cases are the same.
We often see patients who are managing:
- Acute Trauma - Acute trauma typically stems from a single unexpected event, such as an assault or car accident.
- Chronic Trauma - Chromic trauma arises from repeated traumas that may or may not be related or linked, such as domestic violence, homelessness, or combat.
- Complex Trauma - Complex trauma is the result of multiple different traumatic events experienced over a long period, such as war or childhood abuse.
Our Trauma Therapy Techniques
acknowledge, process, and overcome their trauma. Our most common treatment methods include:
- ACT - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy works to accept and deal with negative thoughts, feelings, symptoms, and circumstances while committing to healthy, constructive activities.
- EMDR - EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy) is a powerful treatment for overcoming past traumas, including those that lead to PTSD. In many cases, it’s one of the fastest ways to heal from trauma.
- Gestalt Therapy - Gestalt Therapy is a therapeutic technique that guides an individual to greater understanding of themselves, their emotions, and their behaviors.
- Cognitive Reframing - In cognitive reframing, our clients challenge the way they view their past, especially the experiences, events, ideas, and emotions that cause the most pain.
