Maria Travascio MS, LPC, NCC

Maria strives for her clients to take the driver's seat in their life and to help them overcome struggles they are facing. Maria will help provide a roadmap that allows each client to learn coping skills, find their individual strengths and learn healthy communication that allows for healthy boundaries to be put in place. 

Maria strives to treat the symptoms and not the diagnosis of her clients. Maria is also always working towards building trust and helping clients to overcome judgments and insecurities they may be experiencing. Maria wants therapy to feel like a safe place where clients can be their true and authentic selves. “I look at my clients like house plants. We all need a little food, water, sunlight and space in order to grow into something strong and beautiful.”

Maria has worked for 3 years in a community health outpatient therapist position working with clients that come from low income areas. Maria has worked with clients with a wide variety of diagnoses and life challenges such as abusive relationships, identity issues, severe depression and anxiety and much more. Additionally, while completing her masters program at Duquesne University, Maria spent a year working as an intern at the University of Pittsburgh Counseling Center. Prior to being a therapist, Maria worked in several teaching settings and worked with children ranging from ages PreK through first grade.
